💨 Abstract
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has warned of a spike in drownings as the festive season begins in South Africa. Over the past three weeks, there have been 13 drownings in progress, with seven fatalities, and 25 lives saved. The NSRI urges caution around water bodies, advising against alcohol consumption near water, constant supervision of children, and choosing lifeguard-patrolled beaches.
