💨 Abstract
The Perseid meteor shower will peak this week, offering up to 50-100 meteors per hour, but due to an 84% illuminated moon, South Africans can expect to see about 10-20 meteors per hour. The best viewing will be in dark-sky locations like the Northern Cape or rural areas, looking northeast towards the constellation Perseus, on the night of August 13 from midnight to 05:00.
