💨 Abstract
EFF leader Julius Malema questioned the South African Police Service's (SAPS) claim that the EFF's March 2023 national shutdown cost R368 million, deeming the figure excessively high for a single-day event. SAPS chief financial officer Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane disclosed this cost during a parliamentary committee meeting, attributing it to the extensive deployment needed to maintain public order.
