💨 Abstract
On August 1, 2025, President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Justice Dunstan Mlambo as Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa, following the recommendations of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and political parties in the National Assembly. Justice Mlambo, who has served as the Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court since 2012, will assume his new role after the previous Deputy Chief Justice, Mandisa Maya, became Chief Justice.
