💨 Abstract
Joburg is expected to experience a wetter-than-usual summer due to a developing La Niña weather pattern, which typically brings higher rainfall to the interior of South Africa. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) predicts above-average rainfall from spring into early summer, with the peak storm period between November and February. Residents are advised to prepare early for potential flooding, as poor drainage and rapid urban growth have exacerbated the impact of storms.
