💨 Abstract

The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) is set to receive a R7 billion loan from the New Development Bank (NDB) to upgrade four major freeways and other national roads. While this loan promises to boost infrastructure, many South Africans are skeptical about the money actually being used for road improvements, citing concerns over corruption. The loan, part of the NDB’s efforts to support infrastructure in BRICS countries, aims to enhance critical economic corridors, once all approvals are secured.
