💨 Abstract
Togo held local elections on July 17, 2025, amid significant protests and tensions over constitutional reforms and the rule of President Faure Gnassingbé. These elections, which saw 4.5 million registered voters, came after a May 2024 reform that shifted Togo to a parliamentary system and appointed Gnassingbé as the head of the Council of Ministers with no term limits.
