đź’¨ Abstract
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has re-enlisted 62 veteran detectives in the Western Cape to bolster investigations and combat gang violence. These experienced detectives, many of whom had retired or resigned, will enhance the province's investigative capacity. Ian Cameron, chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Police, praised the move, noting that it will not only increase numbers but also restore valuable expertise within the police service.
