đź’¨ Abstract

Zimbabwe rejected a $367 million (R5.8 billion) US health funding deal over five years due to concerns over sovereignty, data control, and unequal benefit-sharing. President Emmerson Mnangagwa deemed the deal "lopsided," and government spokesperson Nick Mangwana criticized the arrangement for requiring Zimbabwe to share biological samples and health data without guarantees of access to resulting medical innovations.
