💨 Abstract

South Africa will host the final leg of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour, co-founded by Magnus Carlsen and German entrepreneur Jan Henric Buettner, at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve from 8–11 December 2025. The event, featuring 25 top grandmasters and a $750,000 prize pool, marks the first time the world’s elite chess players will compete in South Africa.
