💨 Abstract

South African swimmer Pieter Coetzé won gold in the 100m backstroke at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The 21-year-old set a new African record, finishing in 51.85 seconds, just 0.25 seconds off the world record. He defeated Olympic champion Thomas Ceccon and France’s Yohann Ndoye-Brouard.
