💨 Abstract
Annually, between May and July, billions of sardines, or pilchard Sardines (Sardinops sagax), migrate northward along the eastern coastline of South Africa, pursued by a diverse array of predators. This mass sardine run triggers the assembly of dolphins, sharks, whales, seabirds, and other predators who employ tactics to capitalize on the moving mass, forming an intense feeding frenzy that highlights the raw, brutal, and brilliant efficiency of nature.
