💨 Abstract
A study involving nearly 2,000 adults found that sleeping more than the recommended 7-9 hours per night can negatively impact brain function, particularly in those with depression. Long sleepers performed worse on memory and thinking tests. The research, published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, suggests that excessive sleep may harm cognitive abilities, including problem-solving and memory. The link between long sleep and cognitive decline was stronger in individuals with depression.
