💨 Abstract
A new study suggests that waist-to-height ratio (WtHR) is a better indicator of heart failure risk than Body Mass Index (BMI). Swedish researchers found that belly fat, rather than overall body size, significantly impacts heart health. The study, tracking 1,792 people over 12 years, showed that higher WtHR increased the risk of heart failure regardless of weight. Ideally, a person's waist should be less than half their height.
