💨 Abstract
A study presented at the European Stroke Organisation Conference suggests that the combined contraceptive pill, used by over 3 million women in the UK, may triple the risk of cryptogenic ischaemic stroke (a type of stroke with no clear cause) in young women. The study, conducted in Turkey, found that women taking the pill were three times more likely to suffer such strokes, even after accounting for other risk factors.
