💨 Abstract
Health officials have warned about a recent increase in scarlet fever cases, a highly contagious bacterial infection. Over 12,000 cases were confirmed in England from January to March 2024, primarily affecting young children. Symptoms include a high fever, sore throat, swollen glands, and a distinctive sandpaper-like rash. Early treatment with antibiotics is crucial to prevent complications like pneumonia or invasive Group A Strep (iGAS).
