💨 Abstract
Up to 100,000 UK taxpayer accounts were compromised in a £47million fraud scheme via phishing campaigns by criminal gangs. HMRC detected unauthorized access, leading to the shutdown of affected accounts and the deletion of login details. Letters are being sent to affected individuals, instructing them to re-register with new credentials. HMRC assures that no personal funds were directly targeted.
