💨 Abstract

Ten inmates, including convicted killers, escaped from a New Orleans jail while a staff member was on break. Three have been recaptured, and three staff members were suspended. The inmates escaped through a hole in their cell, using a pipe chase and scaling the jail wall. The escape was discovered during a morning head count, and officials are investigating potential staff assistance in the breakout. Seven inmates remain at large. Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson vowed a full investigation into the incident.
