💨 Abstract
In a major crackdown, São Paulo authorities have temporarily cleared Crackland, Brazil's infamous open-air drug den, from its usual crowds of crack cocaine users. Over 500 officers have been involved in raids, patrols, and demolitions in the area. While residents have noticed an immediate change, critics and experts warn that without long-term support and investment in treatment and housing, the problem is likely to resurface.
