💨 Abstract

The Met Police Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, has raised concerns about the Labour Party's proposed reductions in prison sentences, arguing that this could lead to a rise in crime. Focusing on the strain on officers, he cited concerns of increased workload in tracking and catching repeat offenders taking advantage of such changes. In response, the Ministry of Justice defended its plans to enhance public safety and insisted that the proposed reforms have undergone or are undergoing a detailed impact analysis.
