💨 Abstract
A 31-year-old teacher, Sam Applegarth, died by suicide after using dutasteride, an unlicensed hair loss drug, which has not been linked to suicidal thoughts. Despite no known side effects of the drug, his girlfriend Anya Guy urged men experiencing such thoughts after taking dutasteride to inform medical professionals. The inquest revealed Sam had been concerned about hair loss since 2015 and had undergone various treatments, including tattoos to mimic hair.
