💨 Abstract
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has developed an advanced underwater drone to protect UK's vital undersea cables and pipelines. This remotely operated vehicle (ROV), equipped with sensors, cameras, and explosives, can neutralize underwater threats, reducing risks to Royal Navy divers. The drone can operate at greater depths and for longer durations than divers, and it can be launched from ships or shorelines. This initiative addresses growing concerns about Russian underwater activities and aims to safeguard UK's underwater infrastructure.
