💨 Abstract

In 1986, a mysterious Byzantine bucket was found at Sutton Hoo, a historic Anglo-Saxon burial site. The bucket, known as the Bromeswell Bucket, contained cremated human and animal remains, believed to be from an important individual. Recent excavations in 2024 have uncovered more parts of the bucket and revealed that it was used for a high-status cremation burial, adding to the site's rich history.
