💨 Abstract

Archaeologists discovered 6,000-year-old skeletons in Colombia with unique DNA that doesn't match any living indigenous groups in the region. This extinct lineage, found in the bogota Altiplano, is categorized as one of the earliest human groups to inhabit the Americas. These hunter-gatherer settlements completely vanished around 2,000 years ago, replaced by a population genetically similar to ancient Panamanians.
