💨 Abstract

In Morocco, argan oil, prized for its cosmetic uses, has become a lifeline for rural women and a product linking them to their heritage. Nearly $3 is earned per kilogram through extensive, labor-intensive work, but the rising demand and climate challenges threaten the argan forests and the traditions they support. This deficit is felt by those involved in production, with cooperatives and farms facing significant threats but trying to implement sustainability efforts.
