💨 Abstract
In South Sudan, the Akuak community, part of the Dinka ethnic group, is fighting to maintain their islands in the face of catastrophic flooding driven by climate change. For generations, they have built and maintained their islands using layers of plants and mud. However, recent years have seen increased flooding, making their task more challenging. The Akuak, who rely on fishing for survival, have seen their traditional way of life disrupted, with many displaced.
