💨 Abstract

Asia's reliance on Middle East oil and gas, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, exposes it to geopolitical risks, especially with conflicts like the Israel-Iran war. Key importers—China, India, Japan, and South Korea—are slow to adopt renewable energy, making them vulnerable. Japan and South Korea are particularly at risk due to their heavy dependence on imported fossil fuels. To mitigate these risks, countries need to accelerate their shift to clean, domestic energy sources.
