💨 Abstract
In August 2025, President Donald Trump issued an executive order imposing new tariffs on numerous U.S. trade partners, causing global economic uncertainty. Several countries, including Malaysia, Cambodia, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Thailand, reacted by negotiating tariff reductions and trade agreements. Malaysia achieved a 19% tariff rate without compromising key policies. Cambodia and Thailand celebrated tariff reductions and a U.S.-mediated ceasefire.
