💨 Abstract
Lawmakers, including Sen. Chris Van Hollen, visited a Baltimore ICE facility after allegations of inhumane conditions. They were previously denied entry but this time they conducted a tour. Van Hollen noted that detainees are held for considerably longer than legally appropriate, with averages of 72 hours and up to eight days. ICE denies transparency, prohibiting photo-taking and delaying responses. Senators emphasize the need for accountability and better conditions.
