💨 Abstract

A D.C. task force is advocating for a program to train non-lawyers in assisting those who can't afford legal representation in civil cases. The proposal, detailed in a 102-page report, suggests creating a "community justice worker" framework where trained non-lawyers help individuals navigate the civil court system. This initiative aims to address the high number of self-represented litigants, particularly in paternity, child support, and small estate cases.
