💨 Abstract
Katherine Berman and Sophie LaMontagne, founders of Georgetown Cupcake, opened their first bakery in 2008 during the financial crisis. Their motivation was to pursue their passion, not to make money. Initially facing challenges in securing loans, they used personal credit and savings. Despite early doubts, their business quickly grew, with high demands forcing them to bake round-the-clock for the first six months. They highlight the importance of perseverance through difficult entrepreneurial stages.
