đź’¨ Abstract
Mars Inc., the world's largest candy maker, is investing in gene-editing technology to enhance cacao plants' resilience against disease and climate changes, which have driven cocoa prices to near-record highs. Partnering with biotech firm Pairwise, Mars aims to accelerate the development of stronger, more sustainable cacao crops using CRISPR technology. This investment is part of Mars' broader effort to support global supply chains and adapt crops to climate challenges, disease pressures, and resource constraints.
