💨 Abstract
A former D.C. Public Schools official, Dana Garnett, was convicted of bribery and wire fraud, facing up to 15 years in prison. Garnett, a contract specialist, directed school supply contracts to local vendors in exchange for kickbacks, over a period of at least five years. Vendors delivered fewer goods than agreed but DCPS paid in full. Garnett used the illegal funds for gambling and expensive appliances.
