💨 Abstract
WTOP is celebrating Pride in June, recognizing the LGBTQ+ community. Initially, U.S. Park Police and D.C. police planned to close Dupont Circle Park during WorldPride due to past incidents of vandalism. This decision faced backlash from local officials and community members. After public outcry, D.C. police withdrew the request, ensuring the park remains open for festivities.
