A government cybersecurity contractor, Curtis Lear, is jailed in Washington, D.C., for driving his Jeep recklessly on the National Mall. On June 21, Lear off-roaded near hundreds of people, causing terror and damage. He faces several federal charges, including destruction of government property. Lear's action happened amidst warnings about the risk of vehicular attacks. Investigators found no motives or associations with larger groups.
