💨 Abstract
After 82 years, Monarch Novelties in Northwest D.C. will close this Saturday. The historic store, opened by the Robinson family in 1943, was known for its party supplies, souvenirs, and carnival items, and it witnessed numerous presidential inaugurations. Drew Mitchell, who bought the neighboring building, is hosting a final event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring vintage political buttons, carnival games, and party favors.
