💨 Abstract
After a wildfire destroyed the newsroom of Palisades Charter High School in Los Angeles, Claire Smith, a friend and colleague of the school's journalism adviser, Lisa Nehus Saxon, offered support. Smith, the founding executive director of Temple University’s sports media center, helped publish a university paper featuring the high school students' articles. This project provided a healing outlet for the students, many of whom lost their homes, and allowed them to share their community's experiences with a broader audience.
