💨 Abstract
A federal judge in Alabama is deciding on the constitutionality of a new anti-diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) law, SB129, which restricts public schools and universities from using state funds for curriculum endorsing "divisive concepts" related to race, religion, and gender identity. Professors and students at the University of Alabama testified that the law has jeopardized funding, altered curriculum, and led to self-censorship among educators.
