💨 Abstract

In response to allegations of surveillance against pro-Palestinian activists, the University of Michigan has terminated contracts with a private security company. President Domenico Grasso described the actions as "disturbing" and pledged that no one would be targeted for their beliefs. The university had hired the company to monitor high-traffic areas but denied it was for surveillance. Tensions have arisen with student pro-Palestinian groups, notably after a student encampment was shut down last year.
