💨 Abstract
As of July 18, 2025, the Education Department announced it would release some of the previously withheld grant money for after-school programs days after a plea from 10 Republican senators. The funds, over $6 billion in total—with $1.3 billion dedicated to after-school initiatives—had been halted on July 1 by President Trump’s administration for alignment with White House priorities.
