💨 Abstract
Fairfax County and four other Northern Virginia school systems rejected the Education Department's proposal that threatens public workers, including teachers, with exclusion from the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program if their employers engage in activities deemed illegal. The controversial proposal, ordered by President Trump in March 2025, targets organizations working with immigrants and transgender youth. Critics argue it would politicize the student loan system, but the Education Department contends it will have a minimal impact.
