💨 Abstract
Indian author Banu Mushtaq and translator Deepa Bhasthi won the 2025 International Booker Prize for "Heart Lamp," a collection of 12 short stories written over 30 years. The stories, originally in Kannada, explore the lives and struggles of women in southern India. This marks the first time the prize has been awarded to a short story collection and the first win for an Indian translator.
