💨 Abstract
"The Tilting House" by Ivonne Lamazares follows Yuri, a 16-year-old Cuban orphan who is living with her aunt Ruth. This turns out to be one of many family secrets. In her teens, her aunt's life sees a swift change when Mariela, a woman from the United States claiming to be family, arrives. Mariela reveals to Yuri that they are sisters and that their father sent her back to the United States via Operation Pedro Pan years ago.
