💨 Abstract
Canada's 2025 wildfire season is off to a record-breaking start, with satellite data showing four times the usual number of fire hot spots by early June. About 200 fires are actively burning, consuming approximately 7,700 square miles, making it the second-worst start since 2012. Climate change exacerbates these conditions, making human-caused fires more likely to spread.
