💨 Abstract
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth plans to use bases in Indiana and New Jersey to temporarily house detained immigrants, a move to expand detention capacity amidst President Donald Trump's aggressive immigration policies. Camp Atterbury in Indiana and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey are the proposed sites. The goal is to increase detention beds from 60,000 to 100,000.
