💨 Abstract
Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is an underdiagnosed condition affecting around 700,000 people in the U.S. Symptoms like walking difficulties, urinary urgency, and cognitive issues often mimic normal aging or other disorders, leading to misdiagnosis. Diagnosis requires a CT scan or MRI, and treatment involves a lifelong shunt to drain excess brain fluid. Recent studies and public awareness, such as Billy Joel's diagnosis, may improve diagnosis rates and treatment outcomes.
