💨 Abstract
In November, world leaders will convene in Belem, Brazil, for the UN's annual climate negotiations, COP30. The choice of venue, a high-poverty city near the Amazon, aims to highlight global inequalities and the urgent need for climate action. Brazil, however, faces challenges in hosting the event, including a shortage of accommodations and skyrocketing lodging costs. This year is crucial as nations must update their emission reduction plans, which are largely overdue.
