đź’¨ Abstract
Maryland's plan to hire displaced federal workers is on hold due to a state hiring freeze and budget cuts. Initially, Gov. Wes Moore aimed to fill state vacancies with laid-off federal employees, but criticism and fiscal constraints led to a withdrawal of the budget request. Nearly 7,000 applications were reviewed, but the plan is now paused as the administration assesses critical job openings.
