💨 Abstract
"The Sacred Harp," a 180-year-old American singing tradition, is set to release a new edition of its hymnal. The shape-note songbook, published in 1844, uses unique musical notation to make singing accessible. The upcoming 2025 edition aims to preserve history while adding new songs. Sacred Harp singing is a communal a cappella practice, sung in a hollow square formation, with participants organizing into four voice parts.
