Coinbase, the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, reported a data breach where customer service agents, bribed by criminals, leaked personal data including names and partial social security numbers. The breach enables scams impersonating Coinbase support to steal cryptocurrency. Coinbase won't pay the $20 million ransom demanded but is offering a $20 million bounty for info leading to the attackers' arrest. The company is committed to reimbursing affected customers.
